Originally from Annandale, Virginia, Alyssa Johnson-Taylor received her early training at the Metropolitan Ballet Threatre under the direction of Susan Blazey and Virginia Ballet Company and School under the direction of Tania Rousseau and Oleg Tupine. Upon graduating high school Alyssa attended the University of Oklahoma where she earned a B.F.A. in Ballet Performance. While at the University of Oklahoma she was able to work with Kathleen Tracy, Zippora Karz and Bruce Wells. She also performed in Concerto Barocco, Serenade, and Les Patineurs. Alyssa joined the Ballet Theatre of Maryland in 2007 where she has performed many roles including Carabosse in The Sleeping Beauty, Hippolyta in A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Kascheia in The Firebird, the Goblin Queen in The Dancing Princesses, Luna and Fauna in Beauty and the Beast, an ugly step sister in Cinderella, and Dew Drop, Rat Queen and lead Arabian in The Nutcracker. This is Alyssa's tenth season with Ballet Theatre of Maryland.
