Gaia Rappaport began her dance training at Nunnbetter Dance Theatre under the direction of Leath Nunn in her home state of New Jersey. She spent a year living in Caracas, Venezuela to study with former Ballet Russe ballerina, Nina Novak. She attended summer programs at American Academy of Ballet and American Ballet Theatre as well as at the City Ballet of San Diego, Ajkun Ballet Theatre and North Carolina Dance Theatre. In 2011, she graduated from Skidmore College with a degree in elementary education and a double minor in psychology and Spanish. Gaia joined the Ballet Theatre of Maryland in 2011 as an apprentice, was promoted to demi-solo artist the following season, solo artist in January 2015, and to principal artist that May. Thus far at BTM, she has enjoyed such roles as a Pixie in The Dancing Princesses, Mirlitons and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, a Cygnette and the Hungarian Princess in Swan Lake, Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Winter Fairy and Fairy Godmother in Cinderella as well as Guinevere in Excalibur and the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty. Gaia is looking forward to BTM'S exciting season ahead!
