Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts
A world premiere that captures the fiery independence of colonial America as it forges itself into a nation.
Ballet Theatre of Maryland performs an early tribute to the bicentennial of the War of 1812. "Star Spangled Sketches" features a series of world premier pieces that portray important events surrounding the War of 1812 and historical landscapes that emerged as a result of the war. "Frontier: 1812", set to David Arkenstone’s Emmy Award winning score for the History Channel, sketches events from the War of 1812 - the story of Tecumseh and two stories surrounding the famous final battle of the war in Baltimore.
The second half of the program features three historical landscapes that portray how America evolved since that war was won. "The Land of the Sky" and "The Land of the Wild Waterways" are set to the music of Amy White and Al Pettaway, and "The Land of the Burning Sun" to music by Marc Galiber.
Please join us to celebrate the events that shaped America's destiny.
