Brittany Cavaco grew up in Rhode Island and trained in the Vagonova method under the direction of Vera Kurmesheva and Zhanat Balidarin. Upon graduating high school she was accepted to train under the direction of Sara Knight at SLK Ballet in New York City. During this time Brittany danced with the English National Ballet School and was a principle guest artist at the Alto Jonio IBC in Italy and with Long Island Ballet Theater. After graduating from SLK Ballet she received a trainee offer with The Washington Ballet in Washington DC. She danced with the company for 2 seasons under the direction of both Septime Weber and Julie Kent. Some highlights of her career with The Washington Ballet are dancing in Septime Weber’s Carmen, Nutcracker, Fluctuating Hemlines, Coppelia as well as Julie Kent and Victor Barbee’s Giselle, Xiomara Reyes’ Verdi, George Balanchine's Serenade, Mimo Miccolis’ Crisis and Ashton’s The Dream. Brittany has also taken her love for ballet outside of the stage. Working with photographers from all over the world she creates unique dance images and videos and is known on social media as @theballerina. Her images have been featured in Vogue, Vogue Paris, The New York Post, New York Magazine, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, National Geographic, Arcadia, Pointe Magazine and Marie Claire. Brittany has done dance campaigns for Fuji Film, The Hong Kong Touism Board, The City of London, Capezio, So Danca and Polaroid. Brittany hopes that her images will introduce and inspire people from all over the world to the beauty of ballet. Brittany is also a certified pilates instructor and business management and marketing student at Northeastern University. Brittany is so delighted to be dancing under the direction of Dianna Cuatto at Ballet Theater of Maryland this season!
