Jalen Williams began dancing in his hometown of Saint Petersburg, Florida, at the age of six when he was enrolled into Perkins Elementary School directed by Rebecca Hobbs with adjunct Sean Musselmen. After leaving Perkins, he continued through the two sister schools at John Hopkins Middle and Gibbs High School. During his time training at the schools, he received a scholarship from a small studio, The Academy of Ballet Arts under the the artistic vision of Suzanne Pomerantzeff, where his training became more intensive and serious. After graduating from high school he was accepted into the Ballet Department at the University of Utah on scholarship, where he studied for four years to receive his BFA in ballet performance. During Mr. Williams' time as a performer he’s done roles in many ballets such as Coppelia, Giselle, La Fille Mal Gardee, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Le Corsaire (excerpts), Cinderella, George Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht, and The Nutcracker. Along With ballet, Mr. Williams has also been in works by Lloyd Whitmore (Reconstruction), Talley Beatty (Restage), Patricia Paige Parks, Bliss Kohlmyer, Eloy Barragan, Ilya Kozadayev, Val Caniparoli, Matthew Neenan, Sir Brock Warren, Marquis Floyd, Dan Higgins, and Jay Kim. He has been accepted into many summer programs as a scholarship student, including at Boston Ballet, Next Generation Ballet, Ballet West, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, The Rock School, and Oregon Ballet Theatre.
