Eliza Sell
Corps de Ballet
Eliza Sell, originally from San Antonio, Texas, began her ballet training at Bravo Ballet under the direction of Sandra Bravo at the age of three. She soon fell in love with ballet and moved to the Quenedit Ballet School, under the direction of Catalina Garza & Ernesto Quenedit. At the age of 12, Eliza decided she wanted to pursue her dream of becoming a professional and began training at the Dance Center of San Antonio studying the Vaganova method under the direction of Vanessa Bessler. During the tenure at Dance Center of San Antonio Eliza had the opportunity to train with Alexei Moskalenko, Kristian Ratevossian, Natalia Bashkatova, Sally Herrera, Amy Fote, Yelena Borisova, Mikhail Tchoupakov, and Carlos Dos Santos. She also performed many leading roles in classical ballets such as, Odette in Swan Lake, Kitri in Don Quixote, Cinderella in Cinderella, and Sugar Plum Fairy in Nutcracker along with many other leading roles. Eliza danced in several competitions which included Youth America Grand Prix Finals in New York City as well as Scholarship Classes for YAGP Europe in Paris, France and The American Ballet Competition. Eliza was invited to participate in classes and train at The Dutch National Ballet Academy in a student exchange program under Ernst Meisner. Upon graduation from high school Eliza began private coaching at BellEclat Ballet under the direction of Lauren Ader-Cumpston. Eliza had weekly privates with Nikoloz Makhateli over zoom and spent a Summer training with the Colorado Ballet academy under the direction of Erica Fischbach. In the fall of 2022 Eliza joined Ballet Theatre of Maryland as a Trainee, and was promoted to an Apprentice in 2023. Eliza is thrilled to be invited to join the Corps de ballet starting the 2024 season. Eliza’s be been given many opportunities to perform with Ballet Theatre of Maryland and is looking forward to another season with the company.
