Madeline Jones
Corps de Ballet
Madeline Jones is originally from Yorktown, Virginia, and most of her formative training was with Sandra Balestracci at the Eastern Virginia School for the Performing Arts. She danced in Community Alliance for the Performing Arts's The Nutcracker every year and attended many summer programs. After graduating, she studied at the University of Utah's Ballet Program, where she performed in works by Ballet Program faculty and fellow students (including Jay Kim's Swan Lake and original works by Christine McMillan and Katherine Lawrence), and she learned classical and contemporary choreography from repetiteurs Pablo Piantino and Maggie Wright-Tesch. Madeline also enjoyed the opportunity to perform original pieces by renowned guest artists Penny Saunders and Katie Scherman, and she is happy to have had the chance to travel to Italy and the Basque country of Spain to learn regional character dances with the U's Character Dance Ensemble. Madeline graduated from the University of Utah in 2019 with a B.F.A. in Ballet with a Certificate in Ballet Studio Teaching, as well as a B.A. in English. Following graduation, she joined Ballet Theatre of Maryland as a trainee in 2019, and is now in the corps for her sixth season with BTM. While here, Madeline has had the pleasure of dancing in classical ballets such as Les Sylphides, Don Quixote, and Sleeping Beauty, and she has enjoyed dancing in new works by company directors and choreographers. Madeline is also on faculty at Ballet Theatre of Maryland's Conservatory of Dance and is a choreographer for BTM's Arts Integration program, collaborating with Anne Arundel County Public Schools to teach ballet to students who may not have regular exposure to the arts.
